sebastian inlet surf report
Friday: Disorganized thigh to lucky waist high surf to start the day at 5-6 sec from the ESE. Size should build a bit as the morning onshore winds build this afternoon.
sebastian inlet surf forecast
Weekend: Staying thigh high with lucky waist high sets from the east at 8 sec with a choppy 5 sec wind swell component added in from brisk south winds. Winds turn offshore for early Sunday morning for some smaller but clean thigh high AM surf before turning south and building for the afternoon. Some models are keeping northern spots semi offshore with lighter winds for the afternoon so keep an eye on the wind model for your spot before you head out.
Looking ahead: Lighter winds and knee to thigh high surf for Monday and Tuesday. We still have a front passing over on Sunday. Unfortunately the area of low pressure associated with it has stalled to the north and is no longer forecast to head out to sea leaving an area of high pressure in control. This will still leave us with a smaller 8-9 sec swell for the midweek but only in the thigh high range with maybe a few waist high sets around Wednesday. The next opportunity for something to form up isn’t until next weekend.

Surfing is also a popular recreation and several major competitions are held here every year. Two museums provide a history of the area. The McLarty Treasure Museum features the history of the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet; the Sebastian Fishing Museum tells the history of the area's fishing industry. Three miles of beautiful beaches provide opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, snorkeling, shelling, and sunbathing. Canoeing and kayaking in the Indian River Lagoon are also favorite pastimes. Visitors can relax with a stroll down the mile-long Hammock Trail. Waterfront pavilions and picnic areas are great for family outings. Full-facility campsites and a boat ramp are available. Located on State Road A1A 15 miles south of Melbourne Beach. For more information check out the Sebatian Inlet page on the Florida State Parks site.
