Vero Beach Pier

Surf Report
Wednesday: Knee high with lucky thigh high sets from the NE at 7 sec with light southern winds.
Thursday: Due to the influence of Isaias the swell direction has sifted from earlier forecasts shadowing the Space Coast out a bit more. Right now it's looking like thigh high surf from the NE at 7 sec with light southern winds.
Looking ahead: For Friday we are Knee to thigh high from the NE at 7 sec with light south morning winds that shift to the ESE and build for the afternoon. SE winds build for Saturday to the high teens for waist to lucky chest high ESE 7 sec surf. Winds ease on Sunday dropping us back down to knee to thigh high from the ENE at 7 sec.
The Vero Beach Pier, at 4800 Florida A1A, is the landmark the central Vero Beach surf break is named after. Worth knowing up front: the pier itself is a private condominium pier, not a public walk-on pier, so surfers reach the break through the nearby public parks or the Bahia Mar Rd access as the location parking is private. It is an exposed, sand-bottom beach and pier break that gives up lefts and rights and works on all tides, and this central stretch is served by a cluster of easy public accesses, with Jaycee Park to the south and Tracking Station Park to the north, so you can check several peaks within a short drive.
Best Swell Direction: Northeast swells work best, with a mix of groundswell and windswell, plus tropical and hurricane swells adding size in season.
Best Winds: West to southwest winds are offshore here and hold the faces clean.
Best Size: Works from waist-high on up, running small much of the year, with the cleaner, better days on solid northeast swells. Summer tends to be small to flat.
Best Tide: Often best around mid tide.
Break: Sand-bottom beach and pier break with shifting sandbars, offering both lefts and rights. The nearby parks each front their own banks, so it pays to check a few.
Crowds: The central Vero beaches draw a steady local crowd and can get busy when it is working, but spreading out among the pier, Jaycee, and Tracking Station usually opens up room.
Access and the Parks: The pier at 4800 Florida A1A is private (the Seaquay Condominium pier), so plan to reach the beach through the public parks nearby. Jaycee Park (City of Vero Beach, 4200 Ocean Drive) has a playground and food vendor. Tracking Station Park (Indian River County, 800 46th Place), named for the former space-program tracking station that once stood there, offers ample parking.
Lifeguards: Lifeguards are on duty daily at the guarded swimming areas at these parks, roughly 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though much of the surf sits outside those zones.
Facilities: Between the parks you will find restrooms, outdoor showers, boardwalk and ADA beach access, pavilions with picnic tables and grills, playgrounds, and food and shops near the pier. Tracking Station has around 78 parking spaces plus a beach wheelchair, and Jaycee and Sexton Plaza have their own lots.
Operating Hours (Subject to change): The county park is open daily 7:00 AM to sunset, and the city beaches are generally open during daylight hours. Confirm current hours with the City of Vero Beach at https://www.covb.org and Indian River County at https://indianriver.gov
Fees: Surfing, beach access, and parking are all free at the public parks. Note that the pier itself is private and not open to the public.
