Cocoa Beach Pier North Surf Report: Live Surf Cam, Conditions & Forecast
Surf Report
Wednesday: Shin to knee high with lucky bigger sets from the east at 7 sec with light onshore winds that pick up a notch for the afternoon.
Thursday: We stay shin high with light morning onshore winds that pick up fiord the afternoon.
Looking Ahead: We are staying small on Friday and then we have a bout of strong NE winds that fills in from the north as the day goes on pushing up some big chunky surf. Winds stay onshore in the 20 mph range for Sunday and Monday for continued big chunky surf. Onshore winds may ease for the mid week for a window of workable surf so stay tuned.
The Cocoa Beach Pier, officially the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier, stretches about 800 feet over the Atlantic at 401 Meade Avenue and is the iconic heart of Cocoa Beach surf culture, in the hometown of Kelly Slater and a short hop from the Ron Jon Surf Shop. It is an exposed, sand-bottom beach break that gives up lefts and rights over the sandbars around the pilings, holds fairly consistent surf year round, and is as much a social hub as a surf spot.
Best Swell Direction: Northeast to southeast swells work best, with a mix of groundswell and windswell keeping it consistent, plus tropical and hurricane swells adding size in season.
Best Winds: West winds are offshore here and clean up the faces.
Best Size: Generally small and manageable, running small much of the year, with the bigger, better days arriving on solid swells and in hurricane season.
Best Tide: Often best around high tide or as the tide is filling in.
Break: Sand-bottom beach break. The pier helps shape the sandbars on either side, so the standout peaks tend to set up near the structure.
Crowds: One of the busiest and most popular spots in the area, especially near the pier and on good days. Peaks can be competitive, so mind the lineup and give yourself room.
Pier Hazards: Respect the pilings. Currents can push toward the structure, and surfing too close to a pier is a common cause of injury and broken boards, so keep a safe buffer and watch for any buoys or markers.
Parking: The pier has a paid parking lot that can fill quickly on good days and weekends, though it is often free later in the day. Arrive early, or use other nearby Cocoa Beach accesses.
Facilities: As a full-blown destination, the pier has restrooms, freshwater showers, restaurants, bars, gift shops, an arcade, beach volleyball courts, beach rentals, a surf school, and year-round lifeguards near the pier. Shops and more parking are a short walk away.
Space Coast Bonus: Sitting just south of Cape Canaveral, the pier is a popular vantage point for watching rocket launches, and the public beach does not close for them.
Operating Hours (Subject to change): The beach is open to the public during daylight hours, and the pier and its businesses keep their own hours. Confirm current pier hours with the Westgate Cocoa Beach Pier at https://www.cocoabeachpier.com
Fees: Surfing and beach access are free, and walking onto the pier is free. Parking in the pier lot is paid as noted above.
