For immediate release: The Sea Turtle Preservation Society (STPS) will be holding its monthly meeting on Thursday, May 1st at 7:30 pm with Guest Speaker Dr. Gordon M. Paterson talking on “Mosquito Wars!” Gordon M. Patterson, a professor of history at Florida Tech, will be speaking on the history of mosquito control in Florida. The event is free and open to the public and will be held at the Melbourne Beach Conference Room in the Melbourne Beach Town Hall. The STPS monthly beach cleanup will be held at Coconut Point Park in Melbourne Beach on Saturday, May 3rd at 8:00 am. Participants are provided with bags and gloves. The cleanup is open to the public so come help keep our beaches clean for sea turtles and other marine life. For more information on either event people can contact the STPS office at 676-1701.
